Imagine being able to come to college class in one of the most beautiful, serene gardens in the state. Michael Puckett says mornings in the Sandhills Horticultural Gardens rank among his fondest memories of his time at Sandhills.
Puckett graduated with an associate’s degree in Landscape Gardening. The 32-acre gardens served as the outdoor classroom as he and his classmates learned plant propagation, greenhouse and nursery plant culture, turf management, plant identification, arboriculture, diseases and pests of plants, and landscape planning, maintenance, and construction.
Puckett is the owner of All Season Landscape. “I could have begun my business without a degree,” said Puckett, “but I have no doubt that I would not have the satisfied customers I have today if I had not studied at Sandhills. What I learned in the program benefits me every day.”
