The 444-mile Natchez Trace Parkway commemorates an ancient trail that connected southern portions of the Mississippi River, through Alabama, to central Tennessee. A Sandhills Community College graduate is the Project Engineer responsible for the rehabilitation of 26 miles of this National Scenic Byway and All-American Road.

Brock Jacobs graduated from Sandhills Community College in 2004 with an associate’s degree in Civil Engineering Technology. Taking advantage of Sandhills’ 2+2 Transfer Articulation Arrangement with UNC-Charlotte, Jacobs enrolled as a junior in the Civil Engineering Technology program at the university and went on to earn his bachelor’s degree.

“Sandhills gave me the hands-on experience vital to my career,” said Jacobs. “I was impressed how the faculty truly cared about every student. Their heartfelt desire was to not only educate the students but to see us become successful in our chosen careers.”
