Having a golfer for a father and an equestrian for a mother made the Sandhills region a natural vacation destination for Jean Blue’s family. They vacationed here from Michigan, and Jean moved to the area in the early 80’s when she married a Southern Pines native.
Before coming to Sandhills, Jean had a 20-year career in veterinary medicine. In her 14 years at the college, she has worked in the Administration side of the house and now loves the challenges of being the Registrar in Student Services. “We are a busy department, she said. “I am fortunate to have a dedicated staff that keeps us on track.
“Sandhills is such a fulfilling place to work, and at the end of the day, we know we make a difference in our student’s lives. We support each other and our students on a daily basis — that kind of dedication is unique. We work super hard in Student Services, but we also fit in a lot of fun and laughter.”
Naturally, you would expect a person who once worked in the veterinary field to have a few pets. Jean is the adoptive mother of three dogs and three cats. She and her husband love the water and spend most summer weekends on their sailboat.
