Sandhills Hoke Center Classes Set to Begin Soon

SCClogo_Vert_Primary_PMSThe Sandhills Community College Hoke Center is responding to growing community needs by offering more classes during spring semester.

Advanced Manufacturing

“Certified Production (CPT) Technician” is designed to train students for high-paying, in-demand jobs in advanced manufacturing. CPT is endorsed as a quality training program for entry-level employment by Unilever HPC and ITG Burlington in Raeford and Coty, Inc. in Sanford. Students learn manufacturing production systems and minor manufacturing equipment maintenance and repair as specified by the Manufacturing Skills Standards Council. Students prepare to complete four MSSC certifications: Safety, Quality Practices and Measurement, Manufacturing Processes and Production, and Maintenance Awareness leading to the comprehensive CPT credential.

“Certified Production (CPT) Technician” will be held on Mondays and Wednesdays, June 4-Jan. 14 from 6-9 p.m. The cost is $185 plus a $60 MSSC certification fee and $45 per certification (5 Certifications) and the cost of the text.

Health Care Occupations

“EKG Technician “will teach you the required skills to become a certified EKG Technician and work in a variety of healthcare settings. Topics include cardiac anatomy and physiology, cardiac cycle, EKG strip analysis, 12 lead EKG, and EKG procedures.

“EKG Technician” will be held on Tuesdays and Thursdays, May 17-Aug. 14 from 5-9 p.m. The cost is $185 plus the cost of the text.

“Nurse Aide, Level 1” is a state-certified program that will prepare students for work under the supervision of licensed healthcare professionals in performing hands-on patient care. The course includes preparation for the State Board examination for NC NA Registry listing. Please contact Jenell Powell at 695-3965 for program information.

“Nurse Aide, Level 1” will be held Monday-Thursday, May 22-July 25 from 8:30 a.m.-2 p.m. The cost is $205.50 plus the cost of the course pack.

Gain the skills needed to possibly save a life in the class, “CPR for Healthcare Providers.” If you are a healthcare professional who needs to know how to perform CPR, as well as other lifesaving skills in a wide variety of in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings, this class is for you.

“CPR for Healthcare Providers” class will be held on Wednesday, May 9 from 6 p.m.-10 p.m. The cost of the class is $54 and includes the card fee.

Business

A “Notary Public” is officially authorized to witness signatures on legal documents, collect sworn statements, and administer oaths. Participants must have a high school diploma or GED and no felony convictions.

“Notary Public” will be held May 21 and 23 from 5-8:30 p.m. The cost is $75 plus the cost of the text.

Customized Training for Business and Industry

The Sandhills Community College Continuing Education team can customize courses to meet the specific needs of a business or industry, provide resources to assist in developing new training initiatives or to maintain and support current efforts. Courses can be held at convenient times for you and your staff at any SCC location, your business, or other convenient locations.

Registration

Seats are still available for these classes. To register in person, stop by the Sandhills Community College Continuing Education office located on the first floor of Van Dusen Hall. You may also register by phone with a credit card at (910) 695-3980. Registration hours are Monday through Thursday, 8 a.m. until 5 p.m. and Fridays 8 a.m. until 4 p.m.
