For the past nine years, SCC volleyball coach Alicia Riggan has come home bragging about her dream job. Last November, Ryan — then the head football coach at Union Pines — got tired of being jealous and decided to come to work with his wife, as the college’s director of recruitment.
When they’re not passing notes outside the locker room, the Moore County natives are busy cheering for each other on the sidelines. Alicia’s teams have spiked their way to several regional titles and Ryan stays on the grind with campus tours and collegiate fairs. Together, the two work as the college’s biggest cheerleaders, both on and off the clock.
“If they come on campus, they’ll come here,” Ryan says. “We have an incredible, beautifully maintained campus; and when you get to meet some of the faculty and see how important their job is to them, it’s an easy decision.”
Don’t believe Ryan? Check out this drone footage of the campus.
