Chef Brunner will teach participants how to successfully master three classic desserts properly and efficiently in “Classic Dinner Desserts.” Dinner party guests will be amazed by these delectable traditional desserts: Crème Brulee, Soufflé and Mousse.
“Classic Dinner Desserts” will be held June 7 from 5-9 p.m. The cost is $74.
“The Alchemy of Sourdough” is perfect for bread lovers. Learn the tricks of the trade from Chef Brunner, who was trained in all things bread by his dad, an Austrian Certified Master Baker. Class includes how to “catch” a culture, feed it, and ultimately bake several types of bread, from Pain au Champagne to hearty rye sourdough loaves.
“The Alchemy of Sourdough” will be held June 14 and 15 from 1-5 p.m. The cost is $124.
Youth Enrichment has arrived at Sandhills. Students ages 8-14 will be able to explore one of the foremost community college campuses in the state while participating in a wide range of programs including sports, technology, culinary, equestrian and theater. Successful completion of “Auto Safety Inspection” will certify students to inspect motor vehicles under the NC Motor Vehicles Safety Inspection Law. A valid driver’s license is required.
“Auto Safety Inspection” will be held June 13 and 15 from 6-10 p.m. The cost is $75.
Successful completion of “OBD Emissions Control Inspection” will certify students to inspect motor vehicles under the NC Motor Vehicles OBD Emissions Control Inspection Law. The prerequisite class is Certified Auto Safety Inspection. This is also the Recertification class.
“OBD Emissions Control Inspection” will be held June 20 and 22 from 6-10 p.m. The cost is $75.
“Notary Public” officially authorized participants to witness signatures on legal documents, collect sworn statements, and administer oaths. Participants must have a high school diploma or GED and no felony convictions.
“Notary Public” will be held June 13 and 15 from 5:30-9 p.m. The cost is $75 plus text.
“Bartending” teaches the basics of bartending as a profession or for home use in only four Saturdays. Topics include popular mixed drinks, wine, utensils, glassware, fruit cutting, bar procedures, and ABC laws.
“Bartending” will be held Saturdays, June 3-24 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. The cost is $75.
“QuickBooks” presents the fundamentals of the QuickBooks accounting application. Topics include employee file management, payroll, record keeping, and the treatment of various types of transactions. A flash drive 8GB or larger is required. The prerequisites for the course are a Windows operating system experience, knowledge of accountings principles, and using the Internet.
“QuickBooks” will be held June 5-July 19 on Mondays and Wednesdays from 6-8 p.m. Class will not be held the first week of July. The cost is $75.
“Windows 10 Level 1” covers how to navigate and use the new Windows 10 operating system. Topics include using Windows applications, computer terminology, how to use the Start Menu, and how to create, save, format, locate and print files. Students should have upgraded to Windows 10 or have a new computer with this operating system.
“Windows 10 Level 1” will be held June 6-July 20 on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Class will not be held the first week of July. The cost is $75.
“iPad Basics” teaches students to maximize their productivity using many of the applications found on an iPad. Learn to set up Contacts, use Mail for checking and sending email, Messages to text business associates or contacts, Calendar to set up appointments, Camera for taking photos and making videos, as well as Notes, Reminders, Safari, and others. Also included is downloading and installing apps from the App Store. Students must bring their iPad or iPhone to class with the latest operating system (iOS) installed.
“iPad Basics” will be held June 26-Aug 9 on Mondays and Wednesdays from 10 a.m.-noon.
Class will not be held the first week of July. The cost is $75.
“5 Essentials for Keeping Your Computer Safe” will help students set up protective measures to keep the personal data on their computer safe. Topics covered are updating software, backing up your data using cloud-based storage, virus protection, and more.

“Creating a FREE Website” teaches students how to set up a free basic website for business or personal use. Students will choose from interesting templates and will combine personal creativity along with pictures, links and content information for a finished, operational basic website. Students will also learn how to keep their website up-to-date. Windows operating system experience and knowledge of using the Internet is required. Students must bring a flash drive to class with pre-loaded pictures for their website. A working email account is needed.

“Word Level 1” provides basic concepts and skills to be productive with using Microsoft Word. Learn how to use the tools on the ribbon, how to create and save files, how to format characters and paragraphs, make lists, use tabs, headers and footers, templates, and more.

“Power Point Level 1” provides users with an interface to design multimedia slides to be displayed on a projection system or personal computer. The software incorporates images, sounds, videos, text, and charts to create an interactive presentation.

“Firefighter Certification Classes” are offered throughout the semester on nights and weekends.
The material taught varies per class. Classes will be held at the Larry R. Caddell Public Safety Training Center in Carthage. The cost per class is $75 which may be waived for qualified students.
“Rescue” will be taught June 5. “Emergency Medical Care” will be taught June 19. “Radar/Lidar Re-Certification” will be held June 21-23.
“CPR for Healthcare Providers” This course is for healthcare professionals who need to know how to perform CPR, as well as other lifesaving skills, in a wide variety of in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings.
“CPR for Healthcare Providers” will be held Saturday June 10 from 8:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Another class will be held Thursday, June 22 from 6 p.m.-10 p.m. An additional class will be held Thursday, June 29 from 6 p.m.-10 p.m. The cost is $50 plus the card fee.
Students will explore career opportunities, set goals, and visualize improvements needed to reach their potential in “Career Exploration and Planning.”
“Career Exploration and Planning” will be held Monday-Thursday, June 19-29 from 8:30-11:30 a.m. The cost is $75 and may be waived for qualified students.
Instructor, Phil Laton’s “Re-Employment Services Workshop” is designed for those who are re-entering the workforce and need to refresh their interview and employment skill set. This workshop will aid students in discovering a career that matches skills or helps develop a training plan to learn new skills, explore career opportunities, and develop a written plan of action. Students will have the opportunity to create or update their résumé, customizing it for different jobs. They will learn to deal with the stress of long-term unemployment, sell themselves, and stand out from other applicants in an interview.
The cost for the “Re-Employment Services Workshop” is $75 and may be waived for qualified students. There are two sessions per month on Wednesdays at 9-10:30 a.m. at NCWorks Career Center-Moore County in Aberdeen.
