The results are in! Professor Chris Currier and teammate Todd Dawson won first place in two categories in the World Ice Art Championships in Fairbanks Alaska. They were awarded Artists Choice & Facebook People’s Choice In the Single Block Realistic category. The also qualified for the 2018 Olympics.
We are super proud of Chris. His dedication, endless hours of practice, and determination has paid off. We are so lucky to have him as part of our college where he shares his talents with our students, co-workers and community.
The World Ice Art Championships is an ice sculpting contest in Fairbanks, Alaska put on by Ice Alaska, a non-profit corporation started in 1989. The contest is the largest of its kind in the world and attended by more than 100 sculptors from 30 different countries every year.
Chris Currier teaches in the Culinary Arts program at Sandhills and is owner of CRC Iceworks.
