Kiana Brown has been a frequent spectator at Sandhills Community College volleyball matches the past two seasons in support of her sister Cheyenne, a two-time All-Region X setter. Recently the North Moore High School senior became Coach Alicia Riggan’s fifth signed recruit for the 2017 fall season.
“I love volleyball and after watching my sister I knew I had to play at SCC,” Kiana says.
An outside hitter for the North Moore team, the daughter of Dwight and Jennifer Brown plans to major in science at Sandhills. She has been playing volleyball since the seventh grade and has also been a member of the Tri-County Travel Volleyball team for the past few years. Other activities have included Beta Club and Spanish Club.
“Kiana was a leader on the court and I always counted on her to give it her all,” North Moore coach Crystal Hicks says. “It has been a pleasure to coach and get to know her.”
Other incoming freshmen signed earlier by the Lady Flyers for next season include Kiana’s North Moore teammates Ashia Lilly and Jordan Ward.
Riggan, who played college volleyball at UNC-Pembroke, is also a North Moore High School alum.
“We are very excited to have Kiana join our Flyer family,” the coach says. “We think she will have a huge impact on our program. Her leadership skills and knowledge of the game will help us in the fall tremendously.”
