Tee’ Ashia Lilly earned All-Central Tarheel Conference honors as a member of the North Moore High School volleyball team this past season. Last week the 5-foot-11 middle hitter and team captain signed a commitment to be a member of the Sandhills Community College squad next fall.
“We are excited to have Ashia join our program and bring her power hitting to the front line,” Sandhills coach Alicia Riggan says. “We think Ashia will do a great job of putting up a good block and moving the ball across the net.”
Lilly also earned all-conference honors for the North Moore basketball team last season. She is a team captain and currently leads this year’s squad in scoring, rebounding and blocked shots. She plans to major in nursing at Sandhills before continuing her education at UNC-Pembroke.
“I have always wanted to play volleyball at the next level and Sandhills has an awesome program that I would benefit from immensely,” she says.
Accompanying Lilly at the signing were grandparents Terry and Diane Wyatt, Riggan, and North Moore varsity and junior varsity coaches coach Crystal Hicks and Emily Kafka.
“Ashia was our power hitter, the team fed off of her kills,” Hicks says. “She was one of our team leaders and a go-to player. She’s a joy to coach and also to get to know.”
Other activities Lilly has been involved with include: SGA Treasurer, Church Youth Group, Homecoming Court, MCS Student County Wide Advisory Council and co-captain of the Color Guard for the Marching Band.
