Lady Flyers Sign Pinecrest Standout Abby Wallace

abby wallace.jpgWith this week’s signing of Abby Wallace the Sandhills Community College volleyball team is adding a defensive specialist/setter who was a member of the varsity squad at Pinecrest High School all four years.

A co-captain last fall, Wallace earned all-conference honors as a junior and senior, and was a member of Pinecrest teams that won conference championships with 10-0 records in both her sophomore and junior seasons. She was a leader on this year’s squad in assists, digs, and service aces.

Pinecrest coach Barbara Foxx describes the daughter of Donnie and LeAnn Wallace as tenacious on the court during volleyball matches.

“We are excited to have Abby joining our program for the fall,” Flyers’ coach Alicia Riggan says. “We think she will transition in to help us all around whether it be setting or playing the back row. She has great hands and court sense.”

Wallace has earned most Improved and team MVP honors during her career at Pinecrest. She is a member of the National Honor Society and played club volleyball for AC Sandhills.

She chose Sandhills Community College in order to continue playing volleyball at the next level. She plans to major in elementary education.
