The Foundation Office at Sandhills is made up of Director of Donor Relations Jennifer Dail, Foundation Executive Director Germaine Elkins and Associate Director of Development and Alumni Relations Gayvin Powers.
The work of the Sandhills Community College Foundation is grounded in two of the core values of the college – Opportunity and Excellence.
Opportunity means that no student who is doing good work at Sandhills will ever have to leave the college because he or she cannot afford to stay.
Excellence means that when students or members of the community come to Sandhills, they attend the most outstanding campus, diverse programs, great teachers, and the best facilities possible.
Because of the support of the community, Sandhills has achieved a level of excellence rare among American colleges. Much of that is due to the truly remarkable level of private support the college has received over the years.
The Guarantors Program is one of the programs that make Sandhills a special place for students. The Guarantors ensure that no deserving student will be turned away because he or she cannot afford a college education.
And most recently, The Foundation announced The Sandhills Promise: Moore and Hoke County residents who graduate from a public or private high school, or registered home school, having completed four dual enrollment courses at Sandhills will pay no tuition at the college for the two years immediately following their high school graduation.
In addition to the Guarantors Program and The Sandhills Promise, The Foundation has
a diverse group of additional giving programs including: a named scholarship program, restricted program support funds, employee education and professional development programs, cultural enrichment and diversity programs, Flyers Athletics,
and programs to support the library and learning resources for students.
The Foundation is comprised of a volunteer Board of Directors made up of representatives from the college’s Board of Trustees and individuals from the community. It is interesting to note that The Sandhills Community College Foundation was the first community college foundation in North Carolina.
